As we near the end of the semester, all General Physics Students are required to demonstrate understanding of the C Level Objectives. C Level Objectives are the minimum amount of learning required for a Wilsonville student to be given credit for the course.
General Physics Objectives 2012 – 1st Semester
Students are expected to have met 16 C Level Objectives in order to pass the class and receive a minimum of a C (75%) in the class. Due to some timing challenges, there were a number of objectives that were removed from this semester.
Students who have not met their C Level Objectives must do so by demonstrating they fully understand the concept or skill. This can be done many ways, but the primary method is by setting-up a reassessment with me after school (every day) or during lunch on some days. They are also able to submit video reassessments as discussed in a previous blog post. (Video Reassessments) There may be opportunities to reassess during class, but I will initiate those.
All students wishing to reassess and get credit for meeting their objectives must submit a Reassessment Application.
There are also 5 A Level Objectives. Upon meeting all C Level Objectives, the student’s final grade will be raised by 3% for each A Level Objective that was met. (It is possible to receive an A- (90%) in the class without the final exam.)
The final exam will consist of “goal-less” problems that provide some given information. The students will then create all possible graphs or diagrams and calculate anything that they can with the given information. Their score will be based on the amount of information they determine correctly compare to the maximum amount they could possibly determine. Their score will provide a maximum of 10% onto their final grade provided they have met all C Level Objectives.
The final exam is not designed for students to have learning objectives met or removed, and their grade will not be lowered based on their performance.
